A: According to a local survey conducted in 2002, nearly 35% of the 5,000 Hong Kong residents interviewed said they were suffering from chronic pain. The survey also found that nearly 90% of them do not take sick leave when having chronic pain, reflecting a tendency of high pain tolerance.\n<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

A: There are three categories of pain:
\n(1) Nociceptive pain - mostly caused by injury to organs or tissues, and the pain increases with the amount of activity.
\n(2) Neuropathic pain \u2013 damaged nerves can result in abnormal neural activity, which send out pain signals causing abnormal sensations such as tingling, electric shock, or burning.
\n(3) Idiopathic pain- pain that has no specific or determinable cause.<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

\r\n <\/i>\r\n Q : How should I prepare for my therapy? <\/div>\r\n\r\n

Generally, therapy can be carried out directly on the skin or on lightweight clothing. If you choose to have the therapy on your skin, please wear suitable underwear and we will cover your body with a towel during the therapy. If you choose to have the therapy on lightweight clothing, please ensure that your clothing is comfortable, loose and flexible; avoid wearing jeans or other thick\/tight\/slippery clothing as these materials may affect the effectiveness of the therapy.

\n\nIt is recommended to eat something light and drink plain water 30 to 60 minutes before your therapy. Empty or full stomach may make you feel unwell after your therapy, as your body uses up energy during the therapy and recovery process. If you are having a therapy after a meal, make sure you have enough time to digest. It\u2019s important to keep communication open during the process, so we can make suitable adjustments to your therapy.<\/p>\r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n
